Customer Reviews
Buyer beware of misleading product title!
This headset works
satisfactorily. HOWEVER, the connection is via analog stereo miniplugs,
NOT through USB as the product title states. For an analog connection,
the set works well enough. However, for about $10 more, you can upgrade
to the LX-3000, which IS the USB-connecting headset.
UPDATE ON
12/8/08: It looks like Amazon fixed the product title, which no longer
claims that this headset is USB. As advertised, then, I would probably
up the star rating to a 3 or 4 because these headphones work as you
would expect any analog connection to work: sound quality that is just
"good" (not great and certainly not crystal clear) and mic quality that
is only satisfactory for basic microphone functions where recording
quality is not a concern.
Works great
For an analog headset, they
are very comfortable and the sound quality is great, both directions.
What impresses me is the mic: it picks up my voice very well (with the
mic boost in the + position) but doesn't pic up background noise. Also,
my gripe with many headsets is they are tight to my head, which after a
while causes a headache. These are loose, and since they are over the
ears that's fine (ie, they won't fall off).
Microphone stopped working
I bought this product almost
specifically for use in online gaming. However, my second headset has
just had its microphone simply stop working (Microsoft replaced the
first one free of charge). It's fine one day and then no longer works
and the Microsoft help pages only deal with their USB headsets and I am
again unable to resolve the problem. If you want a great and inexpensive
headset for about a month, this is your product, beyond that, don't
count on the microphone working consistently.
