Customer Reviews
Quirky, funny, a blast!
"Snark" was one of Lewis
Carroll's creations from his 1876 poem "The Hunting of the Snark," the
creature being a mysterious mythical animal. Geeks borrowed the name a
century later to refer to any threatening event on a computer. But it's
the animal we're going to search for in this beautifully choreographed
game with its wonderful graphics.
The heroine of our story, Kira,
is not the usual earnest young princess, or archaeologist or painting
restorer, or bereft girl searching for her father but a voluptuous,
mischievous young lady who loves to steal inspectors' helmets, (the kind
of helmet British police wear) just for ducks. She snitches one from
the inspector next door and she probably wishes her father would go
somewhere and get lost as Daddy hears of Kira's latest caper and locks
her in her room. Think you are too old for this sort of hidden object
game? I'm 80 and I loved it! And that bright-eyed kid of yours will love
it too!
Of course Kira is going to find a way to get out of her
room, ingenious girl that she is, and in the process discovers a whole
new universe hiding behind her dressing table mirror. Kira steps into
the mirror and into an adventure of chasing the elusive Snark. Many more
mirror escapes in this caper keep Kira jogging from one fantastic world
to another. In each environment she'll be collecting pieces of objects
which when put together reveal a tool such as a gear, a hammer, a valve,
a crowbar. She'll be performing many tasks with the objects she
unearths from firing a cannon to making a crayon rubbing of strange
runes etched into a rock to popping a balloon with an obliging bee.
Machines that steam, valves that leak, water faucets that drip, fierce
fires that materialize from nowhere, even a bomb ticking away demand
Kira's constant attention and her considerable handyman expertise.
Many
of the hidden objects will practically fall in your lap, but others are
diabolically hidden and you'll be kept very busy performing all the
tasks you are obliged to do. This game is light hearted and somehow you
don't feel you are performing a bunch of boring chores. The mini-games
are fun and intriguing, but you can skip them if you like. "Snark
Busters" has wide appeal right across the age spectrum as it is hard
enough for adults to enjoy and perky enough for the smaller fry. The
game ending leaves you and Kira rather up in the air, so I think we can
be sure of a sequel with Kira and Daddy going at it again!
Glitch?
I believe there's a glitch in
the program as I am unable to play it any longer. A waste of money.
